I look to the African sky.
I see Biko smiling down at me.
I look to the African sky.
I see Nelson smiling down at me.
And those brave men and women
who have died for our liberty,
they smile down at me,
they smile down at you
from under the African sky!

I look to the African sun
and I know in my heart,
we are One.
No more dying in pain.
Let Peace reign, let it reign!
Lyrics and Music: Tina Schouw
Arrangement: Anders Nyberg
This song by Tina Schouw originated in South Africa's liberation in the 1990's but it is a song that works here and now. When we sing it we realise liberation is not a one-off but a daily commitment. It's jazz idiom makes it a favourite among gospel choirs and lovers of afro-inspired music.
